The Chinese Culture Day in Uzbekistan marking the 20th anniversary of Sino-Uzbek diplomatic ties was launched with a concert in Tashkent Sunday evening.

Chinese ambassador to Uzbekistan Zhang Xiao gave a speech at the start of the concert, saying the event was of profound significance to Sino-Uzbek bilateral cultural exchanges.

Artists from the Zhuhai Hansheng Art Troupe gave excellent performances at the Turkiston Concert Hall in Tashkent. Their performance of Chinese local dances and folk songs drew loud applause and appreciation.

Chinese artists will give another concert in Samarkand, the second largest Uzbek city and one of the world's most renowned cultural centers.

Since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 1992, cultural exchanges between China and Uzbekistan have become more and more frequent. Uzbek Culture Day in China was held in July 2011.
