Shanghai has surpassed Singapore, Hong Kong and Seoul in terms of gross domestic product (GDP), the Shanghai Municipal Statistics Bureau said in a report released Wednesday on the city's socioeconomic situation from 2001 to 2011.
Last year, the city's GDP reached 1.92 trillion yuan ($307.3 billion), 4.1 percent of the national figure. Meanwhile, the annual dispensable income of urban residents went up 180 percent to 36,230 yuan.
In 2011, per capita housing space reached 33.4 square meters, and urban households owned an average of 0.18 cars.
