Shoppers in Beijing are flocking to buy shoe insoles from a 102-year-old street vendor.

Wang Zhenrong, made famous by recent media reports, has seen a run on his booth near the Communication University of China campus' west gate.

He said that he sold 300 pairs of shoe insoles in three hours on Wednesday.

In fact, his stock sold out so quickly that he was able to close his stall 30 minutes early — for the first time ever.

Born in 1910, Wang is a widower and lives close to the campus in Beijing's Chaoyang district.

He has been making insoles during the day and selling them at night since 2007, to ease the financial burden of his children, the Beijing News reported Thursday.

He said he usually goes home after 9 pm every day.
