Lawyers for Kim Lee, estranged wife of Crazy English founder Li Yang, said Sunday that Beijing police have so far failed to act on information that Li has threatened his client.
Qi Lianfeng, from Beijing Yingke Law Firm, said Lee had handed evidence that Li had threatened her via text messages to Tuanjiehu police station in Chaoyang district on October 15.
The messages said things such as "I want to kill you" and "Let's die together," said Qi, but so far, police have not responded to him.
"Kim wants to have him criminally charged as well as divorcing him," said Qi, "but her evidence was not enough to get Li imprisoned."
Lee has accused Li of domestic abuse. But Qi said that her injuries were not severe enough for Li to be charged with intentional assault.
"Meanwhile, it's difficult to examine the real purpose of a person just by some threatening text messages [he sent]," Qi said.
