Around 9 percent of residents aged from 18 to 79 suffered from diabetes in Beijing by 2011, an increase of 3.5 percent compared with 2008, the Beijing Evening News reported Thursday.
Among the 92 million diabetes patients nationwide, two-thirds of patients cannot control their blood sugar levels well. The municipal health authority said that leading an unhealthy lifestyle including drinking, smoking and also lack of exercise will cause the disease.
