The first China-Arab Women's forum was held Thursday in the Egyptian capital of Cairo to discuss the new challenges Chinese and Arab women are facing and enhance the exchange and cooperation between the two sides.
Over 200 women, including female politicians, professors, heads of women associations and female entrepreneurs from China, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan and other Arab countries attended the meeting.
"We were keen on holding this forum to enhance the partnership and cooperation between the Arab and Chinese women organizations," said Mervat al-Tallawi, the head of Egypt's National Council for Women.
The forum also presented awards to the outstanding representatives of Arab and Chinese women, including Egypt's first female judge in Supreme Constitutional Court, Teahany al-Gebali, and Director of China Women Activity Center, Guo Xiang, etc.
The forum, which was sponsored by China-Arab Exchange Association and Egyptian-Chinese Cultural Exchange Association, is planned to be held in China and other Arab countries in yearly rotation.
