Dozens of master craftsmen have gathered in Beijing to showcase their one-of-a-kind skills. One highlight is the making of cloud-patterned brocades that have been worn by royalty and dignitaries.

The technique of making cloud-patterned brocades has been around for more than 1,500 years. It was once a special material set aside to make garments for those with privileged status in ancient China.

To this day, many of the procedures still can't be replicated by machines. It requires traditional tools. This 4-meter tall loom was constructed by a museum in Nanjing.

Chen Siguang, curator of Art Treasures Museum of The Chinese Nation, said, "Only by seeing the procedures of making of the traditional objects can people really know what a non-tangible cultural heritage is all about, and that we are showing them here."

Other treasures on display include paper-cuttings, wood carvings and a wide array of embroidery.

They're all part of the 5th Chinese Art Treasure festival that will run until November 25th.
