A local official in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality who has been involved in a sex video scandal said that the clip is fake, according to media reports.
Lei Zhengfu, Party chief of Chongqing's Beibei district, said the images, which show someone that looks like him having sex with a young woman, are not real.
"The video and the photos are fake, fabricated,"Lei was quoted as saying by the China News Service on Wednesday.
The images have been uploaded on the Internet and went viral since Tuesday, with descriptions alleging that Lei had affairs with multiple women.
Party discipline authorities in Chongqing said they are investigating the case for any possible discipline violations.
