Line 4 of the Beijing subway has resumed full operation after signal problems forced a partial closure for two hours during rush hour.

Problems with the signal system between the line's Zhongguancun and Yuanmingyuan stops in the northwest of Beijing began at around 7 a.m. on Friday.

The line was partially closed to ensure the safe operation of other stretches. But other parts of the busy north-south line were also affected with slow running and longer intervals, leaving the stations crowded with passengers. Subway staff resolved the problem at 8:53 a.m.
