China willing to step up exchanges with Algeria

A senior Chinese legislator said on Sunday China would like to work with Algeria to step up bilateral exchanges in women's affairs and between the two countries' legislative bodies.

Chen Zhili, visiting vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks while meeting with Mohamed-Larbi Ould Khelifa, president of Algeria's People's National Assembly (the lower house of parliament) in the capital city of Algiers.

She said the relations between the two countries have seen a healthy and stable development since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1958.

China has always attached great importance to its relationship with Algeria, and is willing to work with the northern African country in strengthening their high-level exchanges, she said.

Chen also briefed Ould Khelifa on the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Ould Khelifa said Algeria and China are trustworthy brothers and friends.

Over the recent years, the two nations have conducted intensive high-level exchanges, strengthened political mutual trust, deepened cooperation in trade and other sectors, and maintained mutual trust and coordination in international affairs, he said.

He also hoped the two countries would further promote their trade and technological cooperation, and promote parliament-to-parliament exchanges.
