Nine swindlers, who cheated 22 people out of 2.2 million yuan ($0.35 million) in one year by promising they would win the lottery, have been jailed by Xicheng district court, the Guangming Daily reported Sunday.
The ringleader, surnamed Ruan, was sentenced to 14 years. The other eight received sentences of up to eight years and six months.
