UN, Somalia, Bolivia, Slovakia leaders congratulate Xi

Leaders of the United Nations, Somalia, Bolivia and Slovakia have congratulated Xi Jinping on his election as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon wished Xi and other members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee success in continuing to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

He expected China to continue to deliver strong support to the United Nations as China played a positive role in the world body and was crucial in jointly facing the challenges of globalization.

Ban said he and Xi would work together to realize their goals, adding he was looking forward to close cooperation with Xi.

UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Vuk Jeremic said, under Xi's leadership, China would take the Scientific Outlook on Development as a guide to meet the various tasks and goals set forth in the 18th CPC National Congress and build China into a well-off society and continue to contribute to international stability.

He thanked China for supporting and actively participating in the work of the UNGA and expected to meet Xi during the assembly's 67th session to discuss further enhancing cooperation.

Somalian President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said he was confident China, under Xi's wise leadership, would continue to prosper and play a leading role in the global issues facing the world.

"The historical relationship of both our nations is a true testament of brotherly relations," Mohamud said. "I hope together we continue to move to a future that consolidates our values for peace, harmony and development."

Bolivian President Evo Morales extended his sincerest congratulations to Xi on behalf of himself and the people and government of Bolivia.

Morales, also president of the Movement to Socialism party, expressed hope that relations between Bolivia and China would be further strengthened in the future.

Robert Fico, Slovak prime minister and president of the Direction party, said good cooperation between Slovakia and China in various fields would not only be maintained but deepened and strengthened, as would the strong ties and mutual respect shared by the two countries.

"I truly believe that friendly relations and future cooperation will manifest themselves by increased mutual visits on different levels," Fico added.
