Zhou Baokuan, aged 57, from Shenyang, Liaoning Province, holds nine State-acknowledged diplomas including three doctoral degrees and two master's degrees, which he received over 35 years. He was named "The Most Degreed Individual in the World" by the China World Records Association in July, the Chinese Business Morning View reported Sunday.
Zhou, who works at his private Chinese medicine clinic in Shenyang, obtained his doctoral degrees in management and traditional Chinese medicine at universities in Liaoning Province.
He told reporters that he attained his degrees out of need rather than to break a record.
The graduate says he has written five books, which he regards as the fruits of his long-term study, as well as many journal articles.
Zhou said his motivation for writing books is not only because he wanted to show how useful degrees are, but because he has the desire to use knowledge to make the world a better place.
"I just hope that I can do something good for society," he explained.
