Officials from China and Germany on Thursday expressed their wish to strengthen cooperation and lift the bilateral relation to a new level.
Wan Gang, minister of science and technology of China, and Olaf Scholz, mayor of north German port city of Hamburg, made the remarks on the sidelines of the fifth Hamburg Summit.
Wan was in Hamburg attending Europe's largest Sino-EU business conference as the Chinese government representative.
Wan said that Sino-German relationship had achieved new development in recent years, bringing benefits to peoples of both countries and helping promote Sino-EU relationship.
China and Hamburg cooperated fruitfully in shipping, trade and other traditional areas, as well as emerging industries including aerospace, new energy and electric cars.
He expressed his wish that Hamburg would further play the role of bridgehead in Sino-German relationship, promoting bilateral understanding and friendship between peoples of China and Germany and pushing the bilateral relationship to a new stage.
Sholze said that he felt the momentum of China during his visit to the country last year, pointing out that the port of Hamburg, Germany's biggest seaport, is an important gateway for Germany and Europe to reach China.
He said Hamburg and China had been cooperating well with each other. Hamburg was willing to deepen the cooperation in fields including electric cars, renewable energy and aerospace manufacturing.
