Premarital checks include HIV test

The free premarital checkup, worth 530 yuan, will be standardized in the city and new couples will undergo 13 tests, including a new test for HIV, the Beijing News reported Thursday.

Numbers of those infected with HIV in the city have increased in the past five years. According to statistics from January to October from medical departments in the city, there are 2,031 people with HIV/AIDS in Beijing, with 94.4 percent of infections caused by sexual activity.
