Three bodies were recovered while another was still unaccounted for after four fishermen went missing from a Chinese shipping boat anchored in Chile's Magellan strait, embassy sources said Monday.
The Chinese embassy in Santiago told Xinhua that the identities of the three dead fishermen were verified and it has asked the Chilean authorites to try their best to find the last missing fisherman. The embassy will also assist in the search and rescue mission and the investigation into the cause of the fishermen's missing.
The boat's captain reported to Chilean authorities on Sunday that the four fishermen went missing.
The boat was anchored in waters near Punta Arenas, the southmost city of Chile. There had been 30 fishermen aboard.
