The total number of government micro blog reached 60,064 by the end of October 2012, an increase of 231 percent from last year, Beijing News reported Tuesday.
According to the 2012 Sina government micro blog report released on Monday, the more than 60,000 government micro blogs have posted about 31.9 million messages, with a daily average of 531 posts.
Data also shows that 20 ministries, including Health, Railways, Commerce and Culture, have opened 46 micro blog accounts, and 22 provincial governments also joined the micro blog.
Jiangsu province has the most government micro blogs, at 6,222, accounting for over 10 percent of all the government micro blogs around the country.
Beijing's government micro blog has established close contact with Internet users, especially during the storm disaster in July, playing an important role in disaster rescue efforts, the report said.
The micro blogs of public security departments still have the most followers, said the report.
