The top official of a county in East China's Anhui province was removed from his post over allegations of discipline violations, according to the provincial discipline authority.
Wu Baoliang, secretary of Xiaoxian county committee of the Communist Party of China, is suspected of illegally using his power to help companies obtain loans, project contractor win bids for government projects, and help real estate developers in land requisitions and demolitions, Anhui Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC said on Monday.
Wu was also found to have accepted a large amount of bribes, and the case has been transferred to judicial authorities for further investigation, said the commission.
The commission did not reveal how much money Wu accepted in bribes.
The county's former traffic police chief has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for taking a total of 900,000 yuan ($144,000) in bribes over government construction projects, according to a report by Xinhua News Agency on Dec 1.
