A six-member delegation of Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday concluded a 7-day visit to Taiwan to exchange ideas on media transformation with the island's major media organizations.
Led by Xinhua Vice President Zhou Shuchun, the delegation visited United Daily News Group, China Times Group, Eastern Television, China Daily News and other Taiwan-based media organizations.
During the visit, Zhou said media organizations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can exchange ideas and learn from each other in transformation and diversified development, as well as strengthen cooperation to reach common development.
Zhou expressed his hope that media can establish permanent offices on both sides of the Strait at an early date.
The move can create better conditions and environment for cross-Strait media exchanges and enable the media to play a bigger role in enhancing understanding between compatriots of both sides and in promoting cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in various fields, Zhou said.
