T-mac shines but Qingdao sinks

Thanks to Randolph Morris's 3-point play with 1.6 second lift, defending champion Beijing Duck narrowly beat Xinjiang Guanghui 112-110 to sit top of Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League on Wednesday.

Morris ,who scored 4 points in the last minute, had 41 points and 16 rebounds and the team leader Stephon Marbury added 23 points including a critical 3 points to keep the breath of Beijing with 48 seconds lift in the fourth quarter.

Without Von Wafer and James Singleton, all-chinese squad/Xinjiang shot out to a quick 12-point lead. Shirelijan, who scoring a career-high 19 points tonight, almost sealed the match with a 3-pointer that made Xinjiang 108-104 with 1:13 left.However, Morris and Marbury went on a scoring spree at the final minute to take the victory.

"Confidence is the key for us to win this match,we did not fell down during the tough time and came back with the strong belief," said Min Lulei, the head coach of Beijing.

Although Tracy Mcgrady had 33 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals, he had to wait for the first win in CBA as Qingdao Doublestar lost to Tianjin Ronggang 99-104.

Tianjin grabbed its largest lead at 68-48 at the midway of third quarter, then Mcgrady led Qingdao cut the deficit to 8 point by hitting a couple of 3-pointers late in the game, but the visiting team never saw an opportunity to came back.

Tianjin Ronggang's Osama Daghlas scored 22 points, Zhang Nan had 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

Yi Jianlian contributed 27 points to bring Guangdong Hongyuan back from a big deficit to past Fujian SBS 104-103. Wang Zhelin, the raising star of Chinese Basketball, also provided a brilliant performance with 24 points and 13 rebounds.

In other matches, Zhejiang Guangsha beat Jilin Northeast Tigers 111-106, Dongguan Marco Polo defeated Foshan Long Lions 97-86, Bayi Fubang edged Zhejiang Chouzhou 112-110.
