Airport beef with meat

2012-12-13 14:43 Global Times     Web Editor: Gu Liping comment

A total of 21.5 kilograms of Wagyu Beef was confiscated and destroyed by the airport branch of Beijing Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau recently, the Beijing Morning Post reported Wednesday.

The beef was found at Terminal 3 on December 6 by a quarantine dog in the luggage of a Chinese passenger who had come from Japan.

The passenger admitted to buying some raw Wagyu Beef.

An anonymous staff member from the bureau said Japan is an area where mad cow disease (BSE) is endemic, and air passengers are not allowed to bring meat into China from other countries or regions.
