With the Chinese language fever burning up around the world, on Friday, China Radio International marked the 5th anniversary of its On-air Confucius Institute program in Beijing.
The celebrations were joined by foreign diplomats, foreign partners of the classrooms, Chinese officials and other guests. The on-air Confucius classrooms in Kenya, Bangladesh and Italy were awarded Excellent CRI Confucius Classrooms. And Featured Confucius Classroom, Outstanding Program and other prizes were also presented.
Over the last 5 years since the project was initiated in 2007, 12 on-air classrooms have been established with some 12,000 students from overseas. And in the next 5 years, CRI plans to expand its classrooms and build a multilingual and multimedia platform to promote Chinese language and culture.
