Chinese vice premier goes to U.S. for trade talks

Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan left Beijing on Tuesday afternoon for trade talks with the United States.

Wang will co-chair the 23rd China-U.S. Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) in Washington with U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank and trade representative Ron Kirk.

Established in 1983, the JCCT is a platform for China and the United States to promote trade relations and address issues of mutual concern.

The 22nd China-U.S. JCCT was held in China's southwestern city of Chengdu from Nov. 20 to 21, 2011.
