China's annual grain output increases

China's comprehensive grain production capacity has stepped up to a new stage. Spokesman and chief economist of China's Ministry of Agriculture, Bi Meijia, made the remark at a press conference on Tuesday.

Bi said the growth in annual output has to do with a higher yield from existing fields. Increased corn production as well as high yields from key grain growing areas also made big contributions to the rise in output. He also praised the improvement in farming science and technology.
