The world's longest high-speed railway line, running from Beijing to the country's southern city of Guangzhou, is scheduled to open on Wednesday.

With trains running at a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour, what measures has the Ministry of Railways taken to ensure maximum safety? To find out, we head to Wuhan railway station, which opened in 2009 as part of the Guangzhou-Wuhan section.

Bearing a great responsibility on their shoulders - Maintenance workers start work after the high speed rail stops service, usually at midnight or in the early morning.

Lu Xionggao, maintenance worker, said, "We inspect and examine the railway's turnout junction. Faulty insulation can lead to a signal failure. If that happens, the train can't pass through."

Each signal sent through the box stands for different orders for the driver. One of the main jobs for maintenance workers is to inspect each signal box.

Cheng Haibo, engineer, said, "Inspections take three to four hours. It's a race against time for us to check everything, because we can only do that when the trains stop operation."

The trains are equipped with advanced technology, which enhance safety and are vital for the proper running of the trains. Technicians perform software testing to keep the systems operating normally.

Liu Yuenan, technician, said, "We can monitor and control the speed of the running train thanks to this advanced technology. If the driver makes mistakes, we also have appropriate equipment to correct errors and keep the trains running safely."

Wuhan railway station is one of the major stops on the high-speed line, with more than 200 trains stopping and passing through every day. Maintenance workers and technicians are working hard to contribute to the safety and proper running of the railway.
