While Beijing's art scene is looking forward to a strong start for the Year 2013, China's Millenium Monument Museum is an early bird, welcoming a painter from Taiwan and his solo exhibition. Chen Jiaren is an artist with cancer, but he hasn't let the disease hinder his career in painting and education.

Chen Jiaren has expanded the definition of water-and-ink painting to a 3-dimensional level.

He grew into a full-fledged artist in the 1970's - devoting himself to studying Chinese painting, but with an innovative perspective. Recently he began working on installation pieces. The compositions are abstract, but the idea is oriental.
