Chen Min'er was appointed as the acting governor and vice governor of southwest China's Guizhou Province on Friday.
The appointment was announced at the 32nd session of the Standing Committee of the 11th Guizhou Provincial People's Congress.
The session also approved the resignation of Zhao Kezhi as governor, as Zhao was appointed secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in July.
Chen was born in the city of Zhuji in east China's Zhejiang Province in September 1960.
He was previously a member of the Standing Committee of and the publicity department of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC, and vice governor of Zhejiang.
He was appointed as deputy chief of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the CPC in January 2012.
