ATM smasher jailed

A migrant worker, Wei Baoquan, who smashed several ATM machines but failed to get any money out at Panjianyuan, Chaoyang district, was sentenced to six years in prison at Chaoyang district court Thursday, the Beijing Evening News reported.

Wei, 30, from Guizhou Province, lost all his money and luggage on a train heading to Beijing last May. He smashed the screen of an ATM with a brick but could not get the money out at 5 am the day after he arrived, and then smashed all the screens of the ATM before he left. A nearby taxi driver called police.
