China's special envoy and Vice Foreign Minister has met South Korean Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan in Seoul.
The two were expected to discuss the issue of the DPRK. Zhang arrived in Seoul on Wednesday for a three-day trip. He plans to meet with South Korean President-elect Park Geun-hye later on Thursday.
Zhang Zhijun is the first senior Chinese government official to visit South Korea since the DPRK launched a long range rocket last month.
