The Internet disseminates positive energy
The continuous emergence of the "most beautiful" figures, which started from the second half of 2011, reached a "blowout" status in 2012.
In the dissemination of stories of the "most beautiful" figures, the Internet has played a key role as a modern communication tool.
Zhou Chong from Guangzhou, who climbed to the third floor bare-handed and held up a little girl stuck in the balcony for more than 10 minutes; Li Boya, a student from police school who lost his legs in an attempt to save a suicide from an upcoming train; and many other "most beautiful" figures all became known first through the Internet. On Sina and Tencent websites alone, number of microblog threads about Li Boya reached 2 million.
Civilian heroes receive the most respect
Zhang Lili, a secondary school teacher, protected the students in a car accident and got herself grievously injured; Gao Tiecheng, an ordinary soldier, rushed into the flames to turn off the gas valve; Wu Bin, a bus driver, spent the last 76 seconds of his life to stop the bus, pull up the handbrake, and turn on the hazard warning signal lights to ensure the safety of the 24 passengers on board…
The above and other "most beautiful" figures in 2012 were all ordinary people and hardly known by anyone before becoming the "most beautiful".
As distinctively characterized by the "most beautiful figures" in 2012, the heroic models represent the moral strength demonstrated by the ordinary people.
Virtuous characteristics are shaped by virtuous environment
A large number of "most beautiful" figures continuously emerged in Hangzhou and attracted nationwide concern, including the "most beautiful mama" in 2011, the "most beautiful bus driver" in 2012, and the recent "most beautiful firefighter" who laid down his life. The masses in Hangzhou sent condolences and bid painful farewell to them with tears every time.
At the same time of praising the "most beautiful" figures, the public also had open discussion about various related issues.
"The reason for the incessant emergence of 'most beautiful' cases in Hangzhou is that the city has considered the construction of a good moral environment and the excellent quality of the public citizens as the objective for all departments at all levels in the city in all the recent years. The issuance and implementation of a series of encouragement and incentive measures rewarding good morality have formed a favorable atmosphere here," said Bao Hongjun, deputy director of the Publicity Department of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee.
