In southwest China's Yunnan province,a landslide last Friday killed 46 people in Gaopo village, northeast of the province's capital Kunming. Four days after the disaster, a recovery project has been started to help the victims of the disaster.
Over 600 villagers have had to be moved to special winter tents. The local civil affairs authority says they'll be moved to prefabricated houses within the next ten days. For those families who lost a loved one in the landslide, a payment of 20, 000 yuan will be made to each individual member of the family.
Residents who need to be relocated will receive payments of 12.5 yuan per day to help them through the 3-month transition period and the government will pay between 40 and 50 thousand yuan to those who lost their home in the disaster.
