Over 10.2 billion yuan ($1.64 billion) was spent without following financial rules by 50 central government departments and their affiliate organizations. By the end of 2012, 7.6 billion yuan($1.22 billion) had been "rectified," the National Audit Office (NAO) said on Wednesday.
The central government will keep a close eye on the audit work and the rectification of the problems found in the audit, according to the NAO. A total of 36 central departments and their affiliated institutions have imposed 273 regulations on government budgets, procedures and supervision since July 2012.
