Survivors' Hunting exhibition @ Magician Space

Chinese artist Guan Xiao's new exhibition, Survivors' Hunting, transforms the Magician Space in the 798 Art Zone into a hunting ground. Enter and be surrounded by camouflage-patterned obelisks that suggest you've interrupted a target-practice session. Now the question is, are you the hunter or the prey?

16 minutes concert @ Jianghu Bar

The four members of local band 16 minutes took only, well, 16 minutes to decide they wanted to play together. And the sound of their hastily-grouped band? "It's like Radiohead playing the blues," jokes guitarist Robin. This Friday, they'll bring their take on indie rock to Jianghu Bar.

ON | OFF: China's Young Artists in Concept and Practice exhibition @ UCCA

For its first exhibition of 2013, the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art has allowed young artists take over the whole place. That means 50 works from 50 artists and groups, all born after 1975, offering their post-Mao perspectives. This is the cohort that saw the Internet rise and then get firewalled, that saw and eventually partook in a sexual revolution and that understand commercialization has affected everything in China, including art and the artists. Curated by Bao Dong and Sun Dongdong, the exhibition is part artistic display, part anthropology.
