Joe Hisaishi on Piano concert @ Trojan House Theater

Part of the charm of renowned and beloved movies lies in their music. Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi has written more than 100 film scores, including Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away. As part of a series of concerts dedicated to Hisaishi's scores, the Trojan House Theater will host a night focusing on his piano compositions.

Chen Shuzhong solo exhibition @ Linda Gallery

The latest exhibition by Chinese artist Chen Shuzhong at Linda Gallery follows his focus on countryside themes with a collection of 25 of his paintings. Chen grew up in rural Northeastern China, where he first developed a love for rural life and scenic views. Chen's paintings immortalize the simple items found in rural Chinese scenes: carriages, apples, corn and carrots. During his postgraduate time at Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, Chen further developed his technique for capturing both the larger scope of a scene and its finer details.

Exit A and Whai concert @ Yugong Yishan

Chinese bands Exit A and Whai will take the stage together for the first time Friday night. Influenced by rock music of the 80s and 90s, Exit A, who formed in 2007, genre bends to and fro. Whai, a newer outfit started up just last year, has a solid set of original songs, like "China" and "Phoenix."
