For every one hundred people in Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region there are 77.5 mobile phones in use, regional authority statistics showed Wednesday.
Mobile phone use in the region reached 2.32 million by the end of November 2012, according to Tibet Communication Administration data.
The 2.32 million mobile phone users covered 85 percent of the region's phone subscribers. The population of the region is around three million according to 2011 data.
The region is accelerating construction of its mobile communication networks.
In 2013, Tibet is expected to see 170,000 new phone subscribers, with penetration of 96.8 per hundred people, according to the administration.
Maritime satellites will fill tele-communication blanks in remote areas where there is no road traffic or power supply.
