Police in Beijing canceled on Thursday the illegally registered hukou, or household registration, held by a woman in Shenmu county of Shaanxi province.
Gong Aiai, 49, a former executive in Shenmu Rural Commercial Bank, was accused of possessing four hukouand four identity cards. Identity cards are issued based on residents' hukou in China.
One of Gong's three fake hukouwas registered under her real name in Beijing. Gong reportedly has more than 20 properties worth 1 billion yuan ($160 million) in Beijing.
Beijing municipal authorities said they have seized all of Gong's belongings including properties and cars. The Beijing police officers involved in Gong's case will be suspended and held in confinement, pending further investigation.
Three police officers and a township chief in Gong's native Shenmu county were suspended for similar reasons on Thursday, China News Service reported.
Four police officers in Shanxi province were also suspended for their involvement in issuing Gong's fake ID cards and hukou.
