The most important tradition of Chinese Spring Festival is shousui, when the whole family gets together and stays up for the Lunar New Year. The Chinese play Shousui, which has been performed in Taiwan more than 100 times and is now kicking off a run in Beijing, stars Chinese actress Jiang Shan.

Cooking a Dream drama @ National Centre for the Performing Arts
Promising young director Huang Ying's drama Cooking a Dream will start a six-night production at NCPA tonight, its second time there after its debut at Festival d'Avignon. It is considered "the simplest story line, the most oriental thoughts and the most Chinese interpretation."

Section 6 Hip-Hop Party @ Mao Livehouse
Section 6 is still going strong after eight years, becoming one of the purest underground hip-hop parties in Beijing. Chinese acts along with some Western faces are set to perform, including Break Out from Russia and Emcee Heretic from the US, together with Yutou, Krazyle Actor, 1043 Rap Team and N-Bomb.
