During his Tuesday meeting with Abu Zahar, president of Malaysia's Senate, Wu said the relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) play an important role in maintaining stability and promoting development in Asia.

China will continue to support the integration process of ASEAN, and back its unity and development, Wu said.

Meanwhile, China, together with Malaysia and other ASEAN members, will push forward the China-ASEAN strategic partnership and make greater contributions to regional peace, stability and prosperity, he said.

Abu Zahar said relations between Malaysia and China are very good as their peoples enjoy traditional friendship and both sides adhere to the philosophy of peaceful development and believe that only peace can bring development.

Abu Zahar held that, with joint efforts, the Malaysia-China strategic partnership will surely advance further, and hoped that China will continue to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with ASEAN and facilitate common development.

Wu also met with Pany Yathotu, president of the Lao National Assembly, on Tuesday. He expressed the hope that both sides would stick to the spirit of long-term stability, good-neighborly friendship, mutual trust and all-around cooperation to further promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries and to benefit the two peoples.

Pany said that the Lao people are delighted to see China's great achievements and increasing international influence after China's opening up and reform, which have not only brought new opportunities for Laos' growth but also boosted Laos' domestic economic and social development.

Laos is willing to make concerted efforts with China to better Laos-China ties and jointly maintain the peaceful and stable situation in the region.

Wu arrived in Vladivostok on Sunday to attend the 21st annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum.
