Workers in the cultural sector have been urged by senior official Liu Yunshan to follow their artistic pursuits while looking at grassroots people for inspiration.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks during visits to the country's cultural figures from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1.
"Cultural workers should cherish the opportunities in the new era, uphold their artistic goals, shoulder social responsibilities and seek wisdom and inspiration from ordinary people at the grassroots," Liu said.
According to Liu, cultural prosperity is an essential part of the revival of the Chinese nation and its workers should focus their work on spreading positive messages and contributing to the realization of the "Chinese dream."
While visiting Xing Fensi, former editor-in-chief of the Qiushi Journal, the flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee, Liu praised Xing's contribution to the Party's theoretical work. He also listened to Xing's opinions on deepening patriotic education.
Philosopher Xing has written influential books and articles that promote Marxist philosophy and pioneered new ways of interpreting communist theories.
During his visit to Shao Huaze, honorary chairman of the All-China Journalists Association, Liu discussed with Shao how to promote a campaign to reform journalists' work style and increase the influence of the media.
Shao vowed that the association will make more efforts to serve the country's journalists.
Liu also visited Zhou Weizhi, honorary chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Xie Tieli, honorary chairman of China Film Association.
Liu made the visits and extended New Year greetings on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and its general secretary Xi Jinping.
