The water of a river close to the bridge that collapsed in Henan Province have turned red, but officials have denied claims of contamination.
The river provides drinking water to nearby villages, and the abnormal color has led to concern from local villagers. Local environmental protection authorities say they have been closely monitoring the water quality in the river, ever since last Friday's accident.
Monitors have shown no trace of water pollution. It is suspected that some of the trucks which fell off the bridge were carrying food pigments. Monitoring will continue to ensure healthy drinking water.
