Ten people have died in two suspected carbon monoxide poisoning cases within the space of a couple of days in Beijing.
Five residents, including a seven-year-old boy, were found dead at a house near a market in Shilihe Village of Chaoyang District after the emergency command center received calls and sent an ambulance around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday.
Police are investigating the case, according to the center.
In a separate incident, five students from a medical college were found dead at around 8:30 a.m. Monday in a rented house in the district, police said. The cause of their deaths is being investigated.
In Beijing, many residents in rural areas or cottages still use coal-fuelled stoves in winter, leading to carbon monoxide poisoning cases.
