Another bout of snow and rain has begun to fall in many parts of China. Snowfall in Beijing this morning disrupted traffic in many parts of the city.
In North China's Hebei province, snowfall is likely to last till Wednesday. The local Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for icy roads. Yellow is the third highest alert level in the national four-level color-coded system. Visibility is predicted to fall to less than 200 meters in some of the province's major cities and several expressways have been closed.
In North China's Shanxi province, snowfall has stopped, but 8 expressways remain closed. Shanxi meteorological authorities say more snow is expected on Spring Festival Eve, which falls on Saturday.
The China Meteorological Center predicts that rain is expected to continue in southern China over the next few days. Authorities are advising the public to take extra care when travelling.
