Chinese New Year is only a few days away, so we start with a look at the annual travel rush this time of the year here in China. The Ministry of Transportation says over 88 million journeys were made on Monday, 11 percent more than the same time last year.
Authorities expect this massive flow of travellers to continue until the New Year.
The National Meteorological Center forecasts sunny weather for those on the road in central China. But rain and snow will fall in eastern China, bringing the temperature down by four to six degrees Celsius. Some parts of Xinjiang and Tibet will see heavy snow. The weather bureau has urged local governments to take precautions on the transportation system.
