China's railway traffic volume has been increasing, with the approaching of the traditional Spring Festival. The Ministry of Railways predicts the travel rush will experience a peak on Wednesday and Thursday.
It says more than six million passengers will be transported by trains on Wednesday. To cope with the rush, the ministry has added nearly 660 temporary trains.
In Beijing, 160 thousand passengers are expected to start their train journeys. In south China's Guangdong province, nearly 200 temporary trains are added to transport additional passengers.
The passenger flows mainly come from big and middle-sized cities as well as those in coastal regions, with destinations in central and southwestern China.
The Ministry of Railways has started an emergency plan to cope with the windy and rainy weather in middle and southern China.
