Railway passenger flow reaches peak

As the Chinese lunar New Year draws near, a growing number of travellers are heading home.

According to the Ministry of Railways, the number of passengers will reach to its peak sometime between Wednesday and Thursday. 6.31 million passengers will travel by train on Wednesday. Guangzhou railway authorities have added 119 temporary trains on Wednesday to cope with the huge passenger flow. Railway authorities in Shanghai and Jiangxi have also initiated emergency plans to deal with poor weather conditions.
