To keep warm, the monkeys hold each other close together.
The golden snub-nosed monkey, or golden haired monkey, is a special species that's common in China. CCTV correspondent Christy Scull takes you to their natural habitat to see how they're surviving the winter.
Sichuan golden haired monkeys live at high altitudes, amid some severe weather conditions.
Qi Xiaoguang, associate professor with School of Biology, Northwest University, said, "Winters in the Qin Mountains are very cold. It's especially windy in the valleys, so their energy levels can fall quickly. To solve the problem, the monkeys hold each other close together."
The monkeys also grow long hair to keep warm. But with temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees, sometimes there's nothing else to do, except hold each other tight. And the extreme cold is only one of the problems. There's also a severe shortage of food. In winter, the monkeys eat tree bark.
When that's all gone, there's nothing left to eat but moss.
