On the Road screening @ Zajia

As Beijing slowly settles back into its routine, check out documentary On the road (2010), which focuses on the journeys and hardships involved in China's mass-exodus during Spring Festival. Complete with English subtitles, it's a good chance to better understand the phenomenon.

Don't Expect Praises screening and Q&A @ Broadway Cinematheque MOMA

In filmmaker Yang Jin's latest and first Chinese censor-approved work, Don't Expect Praises (2012), he tells a story of friendship and family through two boys who plot a runaway plan. Expect to hear the accomplished Yang speak out about the importance of more art-house films striving to gain the Dragon Seal in the Question and Answer session with Thursday's audience. His appearance is part of BC MOMA's continuing Young Chinese Filmmakers Showcase.

For the love of Guitar performance @ Yugong Yishan

Guitar China is hosting a night devoted to the six-stringed goddess. Ax players from bands such as Tang Dynasty, Heaven, Zi Yue and Shuangzi Ci will show their sharpest riffs, along with guitar contest champs Zhu Jiaming and Li Yue.
