Wal-Mart to offer recycling

Residents will be able to exchange recyclable items for reusable bags by the end of March at 22 local Wal-Mart stores, local media reported Thursday.

The retailer is the first in Shanghai to recycle items such as aluminum cans and plastic bottles.

The city's commerce authority is urging more chain stores to make full use of their distribution networks to encourage recycling.
