Over 20 injured in SW China quake

More than 20 people were injured when a 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit southwest China's Yunnan Province on Sunday afternoon, local authorities have reported.

Latest statistics showed more than 2,500 houses were damaged and 700 others collapsed, but no human fatalities have been reported yet, said the provincial earthquake bureau.

The quake hit Eryuan County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture at 1:41 p.m., with its epicenter 9 km deep.

The Yunnan provincial earthquake bureau has sent a team to the quake-hit area.
