The Sudanese government on Monday received a donation from the Chinese government as part of China's humanitarian assistance to Sudan's Darfur region.
The donation, which is the third batch, consists of 1000 units of irrigation, agricultural machinery and maintenance equipment.
At a ceremony, the Sudanese and Chinese representatives signed a document on the delivery of the donation in the presence of the Sudanese Interior Minister, the Humanitarian Aid Commissioner and the Chinese Ambassador to Sudan.
"This donation is a beginning of a real cooperation between Sudan and China," said Sudanese Interior Minister Ibrahim Mahmoud during the ceremony, affirming continuation of the bilateral cooperation.
Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Suleiman Abdul-Rahman Suleiman, for his part, said that the donation constituted a pillar for enhancing peace, security and development in the area, noting it "will boost the voluntary return program and provide means of living for the internally displaced persons who are returning to their home areas."
Chinese Ambassador to Sudan Luo Xiaoguang, addressing the ceremony, said "this is the third batch of humanitarian assistance that China has presented to Sudan. This assistance will provide much for the local people and boost their living conditions."
He reiterated that China would continue to provide further assistance to Sudan, stressing continuation of cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
